I bought a ZTE ZMAX phone from this store on 6/6/2015, which is 2 months after T-Mobile pulled these phones from the inventory. I didn’t even know until the charging port stopped working. I brought my phone back to this store and since it was still under warranty, they offered to replace it for $16. I agreed but when I got the new phone, I immediately started having the same problems. I brought this phone back and I am waiting for replacement. But while I was questioning to myself why this is happening, I went online and discovered that T-Mobile had pulled these from inventory and I should never have been offered this phone for purchase. I questioned that sales person at the store on Saturday, and although she was very nice and seemed knowledgeable, she said the reason why some Metro Stores are allowed to sell inventory that corporate removed is because this store is not corporate owned. A simple check on that proved to be false because this store is listed as being a corporate store. This is why I shop here. I also think it’s odd that if the phone is replaced, how come the warranty doesn’t start over. That doesn’t make sense. So now, I am basically screwed because these phones have a flaw where as if the charger isn’t jammed into the port once the defect becomes apparent, then the phone eventually loses its charge and there is no other way to charge it up. Some people have written articles stating that the reason why the phones were pulled is because some folks were trying to remove the battery. Actually, these so-called “idiots” as the articles refer to them, created You Tube videos explaining how to replace the defective charging port.
I also asked the sales person about any choices I have about this phone because I paid a lot of money for this phone and if I had been informed that a defect may occur and that T-Mobile had pulled them from inventory, at least I could have made an informed choice but instead, I was tricked and that really is not fair. I have been a customer of Metro PCS before they even opened this store so it is surely very odd that they would treat a long time customer in this manner. I wonder how many phones I will have to go through before they acknowledge fault and offer me a comparable phone for the same price? Probably never so I am left with the option of complaining about it to anyone willing to listen. I have been to the store five times in less than a month and it is getting quite old, to say the least. Please correct this.
Thank you,
