How to Factory/Hard Reset EVERY Metro PCS Phone – A Curated List

If your forgot your password, or your phone is unresponsive, then it may be necessary to perform a master reset to get the phone to working conditions. A master reset restores a phone to its original out-of-the box factory settings. Keep in mind that a master reset often deletes any personal data on the internal storage portion of the phone, such as downloaded content, ringtones, images, apps, and contacts.  Data on any external device, such as the SIM card, or the SD card, however, is usually not deleted . Even so, it is still important to backup any data, when applicable.

There are two types of ways to Reset a phone:

  • Through the Menu Settings
  • Through the Hardware Key

If the device menus are frozen, unresponsive, or you cannot access your menu because of a password, then you can elect to perform a master reset using hardware keys. 

The following lists contains instructions on how to reset many of the smartphones offered by Metro PCS. Choose a Metro PCS Phone from the drop-down list below to gain instructions on how to factory/hard reset it.

Alcatel Phones

How to Factory/Hard reset an Alcatel Onetouch Evolve:

Master Reset using Menu Settings

To perform a master reset, follow these steps:

  1. Back up all data on the internal memory.
  2. From any Home screen, tap the All Apps all apps.png icon.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Scroll down to ‘PERSONAL,’ then tap Backup and reset.
  5. Scroll down to ‘Personal data,’ then tap Factory data reset.
  6. Tap Reset phone.

Note: If the handset is locked, frozen, or unresponsive, you can perform a master reset using the hardware keys instead of the menu.

Master Reset using Hardware Keys

To perform a master reset, follow these steps:

  1. Back up all data on the internal memory.
  2. Turn Off the Phone
  3. Press and hold down the Volume up key and the Power button at the same time until a menu screen appears.
  4. Use the Volume up button to navigate to the Recovery option.
  5. Then use the Volume down button to select the Recovery option.
  6. Use the Volume down key to navigate to wipe data/factory reset.
  7. Press the Power button to select this option.
  8. Press Volume down to select “Yes — delete all user data”.
  9. Press Power button to select.
  10. The phone will reset.

How to Factory/Hard reset an Alcatel Onetouch Fierce:

To perform a master reset, follow these steps:

  1. Back up all data on the internal memory.
  2. From the Home screen, tap the Recent Apps key All Aps.png to bring up the Menu.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Scroll down to ‘PERSONAL,’ then tap Backup and reset.
  5. Scroll down to ‘Personal data,’ then tap Factory data reset.
  6. Tap Reset phone.
  7. Tap Erase everything.

  3. Press and hold down the Volume up key and the Power button at the same time until a menu screen appears.
  4. Press the Volume down button to select Recovery.
  5. Press the Power button to select the language you would prefer.
  6. Use the Volume down key to navigate to wipe data/factory reset.
  7. Press the Power button to select this option.
  8. Press Volume down to select “Yes — delete all user data”.
  9. Press Power button to select.
  10. Select reboot system now.
  11. The phone will reset.

Blackberry Phones

How to Factory/Hard reset a Blackberry Curve 8330:

To perform a master reset, follow these steps:

  1. Press the Main Menu button on the BlackBerry. The Main Menu button is located to the immediate left of the trackball.
  2. Select the “Settings” icon on the Main Menu screen and press the trackball to click.
  3. Click the “Options” icon on the Settings page.
  4. Click “Security Options” on the Options screen.
  5. Click “General Settings” on the Security Options screen.
  6. Press the Main Menu button. The context menu will appear.
  7. Select the “Wipe Handheld” option on the context menu and click with the trackball. The device will present a prompt for the user to type the word “BlackBerry” to confirm the operation.
  8. Type “BlackBerry” without quotes into the text input box and click OK.
  9. The device will reset to the default factory settings.

  1. Press the BlackBerry “Menu” button and scroll to “Options.”
  2. Select “Security Options.” Choose “General Settings,” then press the “Menu” key.

  4. Type the word “blackberry” to confirm.

To perform a master reset, follow these steps:

  1. Turn the power off, or pull the battery out and reinsert it.
  2. Hold the Volume Up and Volume Down button at the same time.
  3. Then press and release the Power button.
  4. Wait a minute, the menu appears that allows for Fastbook, Recovery, Clear Storage, and Simlock. Release the Volume Buttons.
  5. Ok, press the Volume Down button to choose “Wipe data/Factory reset“.
  6. Next,press and release the Power button,Wait for the Coolpad Quattro 4G to restart.
  7. You will see the two options: Volume Up for YES and Volume Down for NO.
  8. If you choose YES, all data will be deleted from your Coolpad Quattro 4G, including any third-party applications.
  9. The Coolpad Quattro 4G will reboot to its original data.
  10. This time you can restore your backed up data to your phone.

HTC Phones

  5. Press the VOLUME DOWN to select FACTORY RESET, and then press the POWER button.
  6. The HTC Wildfire S will reset to its original factory settings.

  6. Scroll down and select “Yes – Delete all user data“
  7. The Huawei Ascend will reset to its original factory settings.

How to Factory/Hard reset a Huawei M735:

Reset Password using the Menu Settings

To reset the password, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Emergency Dialer:
  2. Dial ##626*
  3. Enter 587846
  4. Enter all zeros for the MDN and the MIN
  5. Enter 4 zeros for the SSID.
  6. Click Save or Submit and let the phone restart.
  7. The password should reset to 0000

There is no Hard Reset instructions as of yet.

How to Factory/Hard reset a Huawei M750:

Reset Password using the Menu Settings

To reset the password, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Emergency Dialer:

  5. Enter 4 zeros for the SSID.

  7. If your phone is password protected, you’ll be prompted to enter your Pattern, PIN, or Password.
  8. Tap Erase everything.
  9. The Kyocera Hydro XTRM will reset to its original factory settings.

Master Reset using Hardware Keys

To perform a master reset, follow these steps:

  1. Back up all data on the internal memory.
  2. Turn the power off, or pull the battery out and reinsert it.
  3. Press and hold the Volume Down key.
  4. Continue to hold the Volume Down and press and hold the Power key.
  5. Release only the Power key after the phone has vibrated and the first Kyocera screen appears.
  6. Continue to hold the Volume Down key through an additional Kyocera screen until the Android system recovery screen appears.
  7. Release the Volume Down key.
  8. Use the Volume keys to scroll to wipe data/factory reset and press the Power key to select.
  9. Use the Volume keys to scroll down to Yes – erase all user data and press the Power key to select.
  10. Use the Volume keys to scroll down to reboot system now and press the Power key to select.
  11. The phone will restart.
  12. The Kyocera Hydro XTRM will reset to its original factory settings.

HTC Phones

How to Factory/Hard reset a HTC Wildfire S:

  3. Press and release the Power button
  4. You are now presented with a menu that allows for Fastbook, Recovery, Clear Storage, and Simlock
  5. Select Clear Storage by pressing the Volume Down button
  6. Press and release the Power button
  7. Now simply confirm your decision: Volume Up for YES and Volume Down for NO
  8. If you selected YES, all data including third-party applications will be deleted from the HTC Wildfire.
  9. The HTC Wildfire S will reset to its original factory settings.

LG Phones

How to Factory/Hard reset a LG Banter Touch:

Master Reset using Menu Settings

To perform a master reset, follow these steps:

  1. Touch Menu (Four Dots Icon)
  2. Touch Settings (Hexagon Icon with circle in the middle).
  3. Touch Phone Settings and Security.
  4. Enter the four-digit lock code. (the default lock code is commonly the last 4 digits of your phone number.)
  5. Touch (choose one of the following options):
    • Reset Default.
    • Master Clear. (all user data will be erased from the device)
  6. Touch OK. A message will pop up that says “All settings will revert to factory default.”
  7. Touch Revert or Cancel.
  8. Enter the four-digit lock code.
  9. The LG Banter Touch will return to the default configuration.

How to Factory/Hard reset a LG Beacon:

    I just want to advise that the “master reset using hardware keys” for the LG connect instructions are not correct. The correct way is to press & hold the DOWN volume & power buttons together until the factory hard reset screen appears. then just follow the instructions from that screen.
